| D116 | The New England Central | The New England Central, the "1995 Short Line of the Year" took over from the Central Vermont in February 1995. Whilst not claimed to be definitive, in this tape we see the NECR from almost day one right up to January 1996. We start south of Palmer, MA, we week after start up with NEC, ex BN and Green Mountain power. A week later GT and NEC power is observed and the variety of railroads to be seen in Palmer is videod. Then we turn to the NER north of Battleboro, VT for some wonderful scenes in the snow in January 1996. New England Central's blue and orange paint scheme stands out beautfully against the snow of Vermont and makes for some great railroading scenes. In amongst all this NECR action we take time out to slip back five years earlier and see some pre-NECR CV scenes for comparisons. Do not be misled by a less well known name or tag of a short line. This is a relative term. In this tape you will see plenty of exciting high horsepower, earth shaking, action - every bit as good as a show put on by some more famous railroads, plus some fascinating switchbacks with low tunnels and tight clearances! |
