Charfield To Bristol T.M. (Excl.) Section

Charfield
Down Sidings

The connection leading to the Down Sidings is bolt locked from Charfield Signal Box.

Immediately on a train requiring to enter the sidings being brought to a stand at the siding connection, the Guard or Shunter, or the Fireman in the case of a light engine, must pull over the lever working indicator the Signal Box to show that the main line is occupied and it is necessary to unbolt the points. The lever must be kept in that position for the protection of the train until it is ready and the appropriate signals have been lowered for it to proceed, or it has been shunted into the sidings and the main line is clear, when the lever must be put back in the frame.

After a train has been shunted into the sidings to allow another train to pass or for any other purpose, the lever working the indicator in the signal box must not be again pulled over until the Signalman has unbolted the points.

Rule 175(c). As Rotary interlocking block instruments are provided on the Down line between Berkeley South and Charfield, Ballast Trains must not be allowed to return in the wrong direction.

Wickwar

Rule 175(c). As Rotary interlocking block instruments are provided on the Up line between Rangeworthy and Wickwar, Ballast Trains must not be allowed to return in the wrong direction.

Rangeworthy

Rule 175(c). As Rotary interlocking block instruments are provided on the Up line between Yate Main Line Junction and Rangeworthy, Ballast Trains must not be allowed to return in the wrong direction.

Yate

Rule 175(c). As Rotary interlocking block instruments are provided on the Down line between Rangeworthy and Yate Main Line Junction, Ballast Trains must not be allowed to return in the wrong direction.

Mangotsfield
Sidings Connections Bolt Locked From Signal Boxes

The connections leading to the Down lie-by and Up Sidings are bolt locked from Mangotsfield North Junction Signal Box and the connections leading to the Down Sidings and Up Side Horse Dock are bolt locked from Mangotsfield Station signal box.

Immediately on a train requiring to enter the sidings being brought to a stand at a siding connection bolt-locked from a signal box, the Guard or Shunter, or the Fireman in the case of a light engine must pull over the lever working Indicator in the signal box to show that the main line is occupied and it is necessary to unbolt the points, and the lever must be kept in that position for the protection of the train until it is ready and the appropriate signals lowered for it to proceed, or it has been shunted into the siding and the main line is clear, when the lever must be put back in the frame.

After a train has been shunted into a siding to allow another train to pass or for any other purpose, the lever working the indicator in the signal box must not be again pulled over until the Signalman has unbolted the points.

Mangotsfield North Junction Up Starting Signal may be passed when at Danger for shunting purposes.

Up Sidings

The connection leading to the Up Sidings is bolt locked from Fishponds Station signal box.

Immediately on a train requiring to enter the sidings being brought to a stand at the Siding Connection, the Guard or Shunter, or the Fireman in the case of a light engine, must pull over the lever working indicator in the signal box to show that the main line is occupied and it is necessary to unbolt the points. The lever must be kept in that position for the protection of the train until it is ready and the appropriate signals have been lowered for it to proceed, or it has been shunted into the sidings and the main line is clear, when the lever must be put back in the frame.

After a train has been shunted into the sidings to allow another train to pass or for any other purpose, the lever working the indicator in the signal box must not be again pulled over until the Signalman has unbolted the points.

Fishponds Station Up Starting Signal may be passed when at Danger for shunting purposes.

Kingswood Junction

Rule 175(c). As Rotary interlocking block instruments are provided on the Up line between Lawrence Hill Junction and Kingswood Junction, Ballast Trains must not be allowed to return in the wrong direction.

Working Of Empty Coaching Stock Trains - Lawrence Hill Junction - Bristol (T.M.)

Empty Coaching Stock trains consisting of more than 48 wheels, must whenever practicable, be worked from Lawrence Hill Junction Signal Box to Bristol (T.M.) Station with an engine attached at each end. In all cases, both of the engines must have the vacuum brake pipes connected to the train. The engines will be attached at Lawrence Hill Junction Signal Box or in the Sidings and the leading engine detached after the arrival of the train at Bristol (T.M.) Station. The coupling and uncoupling of the engines will be carried out by the Shunter.

The provisions of Rule 133 (c) must be strictly complied with.
