General Appendix 1960

WORKING OF PASSENGER AND FREIGHT TRAINS EQUIPMENT FOR GUARDS AND BRAKE VANS.

In addition to the articles enumerated in Rules 7 and 129(iii) Guards working Passenger and Freight trains must be in possession of the following articles when working a train :-

Journal Forms
Guards Note Book
Train Loads Book (where required)
A supply of Wrong Line Order Forms A and C
Gangway Door Key (where required)
Gas Key and/or Electric Light Key (where required)
Locker Key

Guards will be held responsible for seeing that the chain bridle and brake are in good order. They must also see that the seals of the first aid and tool boxes are intact and that the brake vans contain the extraneous articles referred to below :-

1. PASSENGER VANS.

First Aid Cabinet-A list of contents is posted on the lid.

B.R. standard locomotive hauled stock and multiple unit diesel mechanical trains.

Where sand boxes are fitted, Guards will be responsible for seeing that these contain a sufficient quantity of dry sand.

They will also be responsible for keeping the brake van clean except at places where special staff are provided for this purpose.
